This is the way, step inside…

I wonder if any of you Lynch fans out there are still unaware of this little internet gem…

Brainchild of one Emmanuel Papillon, the labyrinthine World Of David Lynch echoes old-school ‘point and click’ adventure games and takes those brave enough to venture, through the medium of Fred Madison’s prophetic television screen, into the dark and beautiful worlds of Twin Peaks, Lost Highway, Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire (very briefly) and Blue Velvet, which the site mixes into one another almost seemlessly; Frank Booth takes you on a joyride to the Roadhouse in Twin Peaks, where Fred Madison calls home from a payphone, strains of The Pink Room playing in the background; a visit to The Lady in The Radiator leads you into the depths of The Black Lodge, as does a jaunt to Club Silencio, in fact all roads seem to lead, inexorably, to the lodge… Employing sound clips, music, animation and subtitles, there’s no real goal as such but the simple act of wandering around in these worlds can hypnotise you for hours.

Draw the curtains, turn off the lights, make sure to turn up the sound, disable any over zealous pop-up blockers, press F11 to go full screen and keep an eye on the scroll bars as there is often much content hiding on the periphery (which is, in itself, somewhat Lynchian).

Dream deeply and get thoroughly LOST in it, or just find a room you like and leave it on in the background as ambient accompaniment to whatever deviant and socially unacceptable tasks you, the reader, are currently engaged in.

W A R N I N G :  there are flashing images, there will be a certain amount of going around in circles and you WILL get stuck in the lodge for a time… perhaps I’ll see you in there…
